83rd Legislative Session

Texas 83rd Legislative Session Report: The 83rd Session To Be One of the Most Conservative Ever

The following is a digest of an article originally found at the Fort Worth Star Telegram. The Texas Lobby Group is posting this summary as a public service for lobbyists, politicians, consultants, and others interested in the 83rd Legislative Session for the state of Texas.

The 83rd Legislative session has a remarkably high volume of new House and Senate representatives. The current legislative session is predicted to be dominated by conservatives, even more so than the previous session. Tarrant county representative are a good example of the trend to the right.

“I think it’s accurate to say each of the new [Tarrant County] representatives is more conservative-minded than the prior incumbent,” said Matt Krause, Representative elect from Fort Worth.

The hope for the 83rd session is that the new legislators will bring energy and passion to the process, helping Texas to grow and maintain a responsible fiscal policy.
