The deadline to run as a candidate in one of the two major parties in Texas was Monday, December 9th at 6:00 PM. Offices up for election include seats in the US Senate and House of Representatives, the Texas House and Senate, and several statewide offices. The party primaries are scheduled for March 3, 2020 and the general election is scheduled for November 3, 2020. Below is a preliminary list of candidates who have filed to run in open seats or who have filed to run in primaries against incumbents in Texas. The list includes information on several notable races, including in House District 10, where a 3-way Republican primary will likely determine the ultimate outcome of the race, and House District 60, where Republican Mike Lang recently retired and only one candidate, Republican Kellye SoRelle, has filed to run. Rep. Zedler, who drew a late primary opponent, is rumored to withdraw later this week.
A complete list of candidates will follow once all counties report their filings and the Secretary of State finalizes the list. Further information and a current list of candidates and races can be found here.
